Aim : To
achieve an improved level of standard in the plans prepared for housing and
building development.
Goal :
To
provide an opportunity for the participants to develop their skills in the
preparation of housing and building plans.
General Objective : At
the end of the course the participants will be able to prepare high standard
plans for housing and building development including services, conforming to
accepted building regulations and to obtain necessary building approvals prior
to construction.
Target Group : Draughtsmen involved in
draughting work related to housing and building development or related work
(architectural, structural or services).
Required Academic and Working Background :
i Draughtsmanship qualifications with over 2 years draughting experience in
the relevant field, or
ii
Over 10-15 years of draughting experience in the relevant field.
Course
Contents : Appreciation
of architectural design, design principles and their application, Building
regulation; Architectural drawings; Free hand drawings; Structural drawings;
Internal plumbing drawings; External water supply and sewerage drawings;
Awareness to electrical drawings; Building application; Introduction to basic
quantities and estimates.
Medium :
Although
the medium will be English, as necessary explanations and instructions will be
in Sinhala medium.
Methodology :
Lectures,
Discussions, Draughting Practice and Exercises.
Duration :
The
course will be held on 12 full days.
Evaluation :
Tests
in Free hand drawings, Architectural drawings, Structural drawings, Service
drawings, and General test.
Certification :
A certificate of successful
completion will be issued to those who achieve the accepted standard at the
tests. This certificate will not be valid for designing of buildings.
