Project Preparation by participants
Project Case Study

Participants are required to make an extensive examination and analysis of a selected on-going construction project applying the techniques and systems learnt during the theoretical part of the course. For this work trainees will work in groups. The group will normally consist of two persons, each one undertaking various tasks in the analysis.

Group Presentation

Each group will present the details of their case study before an invited panel, which will include the participants' employees, the Project Managers from the projects selected as well as the staff.    The presentation will be open for constructive criticism by the panel as well as other participants at the end.

Project Report

Each  group is expected to submit a report on the findings of the case study.   Every aspect of the 'on-site' situation is to be thoroughly examined and any weakness or strength in the system highlighted in the  report.  Alternative methods and procedures are also to be suggested.

Group project work, the presentation and the report are the most important tasks in the course and shows the amount of effort and input by the participants and their grasp of the basic management concepts necessary to control a project.  It is the climax of the course.  It is also expected that any major faults or problems highlighted by a project report would lead to a direct improvement on the project in question.
